The rhino in this one doesn't wander in from the long grass. It arrives on fire, horn first, and it pays more than anything else on the reels.
Blazing Rhino Hold & Hit is Spinomenal's savannah slot from 2025: golden grassland, acacia trees on the horizon, cheetahs, zebras, crocodiles and flamingos on the reels, and a bonus round built on locking blazing symbols in place until the spins run dry or the grid fills.
It's an easy game to read, which is most of its charm. Line wins in the base game, two features on top, and four jackpots that are fixed multiples of your stake rather than a pot that grows.
Blazing Rhino at a glance
- Studio: Spinomenal
- Reels: 5 reels, 3 rows, 25 fixed paylines, paying left to right
- RTP at Hippozino: 92.33%
- Volatility: medium-high, so prizes tend to arrive less often and larger
- Top prize: the Grand Jackpot, 5,000× your total bet
- Features: Hold & Hit, free spins, colossus symbols
A word on that RTP. Spinomenal builds the game in four versions, from 89.49% to 96.85%, and each casino runs one. Ours is 92.33%, so a higher number on another site is describing a different version. RTP is an average over a vast number of spins; it tells you nothing about what one session will do.
The symbols and what they pay
Your total bet is split evenly across the 25 lines, and the paytable quotes every prize as a multiple of that line bet. Five rhinos on a line pay 500 times it, which works out at 20 times your total bet.
| Symbol | 3 on a line | 4 on a line | 5 on a line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rhino (Wild) | 25× | 250× | 500× |
| Cheetah | 25× | 250× | 400× |
| Crocodile | 20× | 150× | 300× |
| Zebra | 15× | 100× | 200× |
| Flamingo | 10× | 50× | 150× |
| A, K, Q, J | 5× | 10× | 30× |
The rhino stands in for every symbol except the baobab tree and the bonus symbol. One quirk worth knowing: three or four Wilds on a line only pay when the next symbol along is a free spins or bonus symbol. Five pay on their own.
How the Hold & Hit round works
The bonus symbols are rings of fire, each with a value or a jackpot name burning in the middle. Six or more anywhere on the reels start the round. Those six stay where they landed, the other spots empty out, and you get three spins to fill them.
Every new symbol that lands sticks too, and puts the spin count back to three. The round ends when you run out of spins or when all 15 spots are covered. Each symbol carries a prize:
- a value of 1× to 10× your total bet
- the Mini jackpot, 25× your total bet
- the Major, 50×
- the Mega, 250×
When the spins run out, everything on the grid is added up and paid. Cover all 15 spots and the Grand jackpot pays 5,000× your total bet instead, replacing the rest rather than adding to it. The bar above the reels shows all four jackpots in money at whatever stake you're playing.
That reset to three is what keeps the round interesting: a slow start can still turn into a long one, and you're counting spots the whole way.
Free spins and the colossus
The free spins symbol is a baobab tree, and in the base game it only lands on reels 1, 3 and 5. Three of them give you three free spins and pay three times your total bet straight away, on top of any line wins.
Three spins sounds lean until the colossus shows up. During free spins any symbol can land as a single 3×3 block across the middle three reels, covering nine of the fifteen positions at once. A rhino colossus fills the centre of the grid with Wilds.
The feature symbols play by the same rule in this round: they only land as a colossus. A baobab colossus adds three more free spins and pays three times your bet again, and a bonus colossus takes you into Hold & Hit. Your bet per line stays at whatever it was on the spin that started the round.
Who Blazing Rhino suits
This is a slot for someone who likes a bonus round they can follow. Hold & Hit is all on the screen: how many spots are left, how many spins you have, what each symbol is worth. Nothing happens off stage.
That medium-high volatility is worth taking seriously: expect quiet stretches on the plains between features. Prefer the forest to the plains? Spinomenal built Gorilla Fury Hold & Hit on exactly the same rules, with a silverback as the Wild. The rest of the savannah is waiting in our Wild Africa slots.
